Cellulose is an important member of β-glucan group of biochemicals and a polymer with vast use range. It is being consumed in almost all types of industries including food, paper, medicine etc.Precise determination of quantity and quality of cellulose is necessarily required to produce quality products from cellulose. A number of researches have been carried out to explore characteristics of cellulose; however, researchers have to face some difficulties due to chemical contaminants, having high resemblance with cellulose. These chemicals (individually or collectively) behave like cellulose and maneuver the results of cellulose assays. The present study focuses upon some chemical, physical and biological interference in cellulose assayscaused by chemicals other than cellulose. This study will be helpful in understanding the exact phenomena of cellulose assays and possible matrix in results.
