Salivary Glands-Anatomy

Salivary glands are considered exocrine glands because they secrete their product into ducts. The 3 major parts of salivary glands are the parotid, submandibular and sublingual glands. Salivary glands produce saliva, which plays an important role in digestion to break down food. Saliva contains water, electrolytes, mucus and enzymes.
