The immune system mistakenly produces the antibodies against the health cells of the body. These antibodies are called auto antibodies. The antibodies which are released against its own organ, tissue are called auto antibodies. These reactions cause inflammation, damage and finally lead to autoimmune diseases.
Researchers found antibodies targeting the host’s DNA in Systemic lupus erythematosus where many of these antibodies are toxic and have the ability to penetrate in to the living cells and nuclei. The lupus antibody, known as 3E10, is not only benign but has the capacity to penetrate both healthy and malignant cells and cell nuclei, Researchers though that 3E10 can be used as a vehicle for drug delivery. They further found that 3E10, when used alone, could kill cancer cells with DNA repair deficiencies such as those with mutations in the BRCA2 gene.
