Pediatric eye examination

The pediatric eye screening is a challenging and time consuming process that demands proper attention. Eye examination is extremely important for children, because 5 to 10 percent of preschoolers and 25 percent of school-aged children have vision problems. Early detection of these issues can help us to treat the problems as earliest as possible. Major components of pediatric eye examination includes: Acuity - Distance Vision, Acuity - Near Vision, Focusing Skills, Stereopis, Color Vision, Eye Tracking and Fixation Skills, Reversal Frequency, Visual Motor Integration etc. Babies should be able to see as well as adults in terms of focusing ability, color vision and depth perception by 6 months of age and thus vision tests are same as that of adults.
