Ankle is made up of bones, muscles are ligaments. Mostly foot and ankle disorders results from abnormal functions of articular and extra-articular functions. Most common ankle problems are sprains and fracture. Sprains means injury to ligaments and fracture means break in the bone. There are few other common ankle disorders which include tendonitis and arthritis. Regular activities cause ankle disorders. Sprains and fractures caused twisting, tripping, landing on the foot forcedly. The symptoms which are mostly seen include: 1. Pain 2. Swelling 3. Stiffness 4. Problems moving the ankle 5. Walking difficulty Diagnosis is done by CT scan, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and X-ray.
