Calibrating HPGe Well-type Detectors

The direct mathematical method is an analytical method created by Younis S. Selim and Mahmoud I. Abbas to calculate the total or photopeak efficiency of radioactive detectors [1-4].Then it was used by several authors. The comparison between the analytical values and experimental ones shows that the error is very small. Besides, the direct mathematical method is built on simple physical concept and mathematical integrals and it does not need long computer programs like other analytical methods. This analytical method is used to calculate the photo peak efficiency of a radioactive source placed in the well of a well type HPGe detector.
