Granular Piles and Stress Dip Using Continuum Model

The low shear stress gradient by the raining procedure produces a central stress peak with a gentle slope. Comparison of our calculated results with the experimental data of many researchers shows that the calculated stress distributions beneath the granular piles are in good agreement with the experimental data. This agreement suggests that our constitutive relations are applicable to the dense granular dynamics and statics.
