Evaluation of Dried Blood Spots for Determination of Perfluoroalkyl Substances in Blood

This study aimed to evaluate how spotted blood is distributed on Dried Blood Spot (DBS) cards in order to develop a method for obtaining a standardized blood volume for use in a Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) quantification method. A linear relationship between the DBS distributed area and spotted blood volume (20-70 μL) was observed (R2=0.9995) from 59 adult samples (44 females and 15 males, 20-66 years old).
