With the increase in older adult demographics, geriatricians and in general, clinicians who care for older adults will have an overwhelming patient population. Geriatricians must be able to maintain a patients' quality of life by ensuring older adults stay independent, and maintain an active lifestyle. Hospitalization may be necessary when chronically ill older adults experience decline in their multiple co-morbidities and clinicians caring for older adults must be skilled in managing multiple illnesses with appropriate treatments and medications.
