Cerebral Palsy is a developmental disorder affecting motion and cognition which results in abnormality of the brain. A small percentage of cases can be caused by hypoxia. In addition to motor function disability, cerebral palsy can be associated with other conditions including intellectual disability, seizures, impairment of vision, hearing or speech, musculoskeletal disorders, and bronchopulmonary disorders.

Several factors have been implicated in congenital cerebral palsy risk, which includes low birth weight, infections during pregnancy, prematurity, birth complications and maternal steroid use. Risk factors for acquired cerebral palsy include infections, such as injury to the brain, meningitis and cerebrovascular dysfunction. Most of the cerebral palsies were characterized by movement dysfunction and brain damage.
