Depression is the most common psychiatric condition in the United States and a major public health concern. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), as well as depressive symptoms are associated with increased morbidity and mortality, chronic disease onset and progression, and decreased overall quality of life . It is estimated that the lifetime prevalence for depression is 16.2%, and it continues to increase in all age groups.
