Infertility is mainly concerned about the disruption of germ cells. In mouse and monkey, embryonic stem cells have been demonstrated to produce germ cells like cell in vitro. In mouse, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) generated neuron, hematopoietic cells, and germ cell-like cells. In case of human, germ cell competent cells have been developed from iPSCs. The goat fibroblast cells were isolated from goat ear pinnae and used for generation of goat iPSCs. The giPSCs were generated from fibroblast cells of female goat by ectopic expression of transcription factors Oct4, Sox2, and Nanog. These germ cell-like cells were characterized by observing expression of germ cell specific markers at transcription and protein level using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, immunostaining, immunoblotting and flow-cytometry.
