Rapid Detection Technology

Microbial contamination of drinking water is a major issue worldwide because it is still a major source of water-borne or water based ill-nesses in developing as well as developed countries, and can cause mortality as illustrated by recorded outbreaks. Detection of pathogenic bacteria in drinking water is an important issue for water utilities because they pose critical impact on public health. The annual number of endemic acute gastrointestinal illness cases associated with consumption of public drinking water in the U.S. has been estimated to range from 4.3 to 11.7 million cases.
