Monolayers for FT-SPR Biosensor

The formation of organized monolayers on surface by selfassembling is interesting in an increasing number of fields as surfaces nanostructuration, chemistry, biology and molecular engineering. Self-assembling monolayers (SAMs) offer the possibility to modify the terminal functions of thiol-chains to bind any type of ligands by covalent, ionic or hydrogen interactions. Various aspects of surface modification procedures, such as choice of surface material, types of assembling molecules, physical organic properties of the formed layers, have long been studied from pure scientific interest.
