In a medical breakthrough, two Indian scientists have discovered that dopamine -known as the happy hormone -can also kill tumors.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps in the transmission of signals in the brain and other vital areas. It also helps regulate movement and emotional responses. Deficiency of dopamine can result in Parkinson's disease. Dopamine starves cancerous tumors of blood, causing them to shrink and eventually vanish. In animal-model experiments, they observed that dopamine acted very well on cancerous tumors, effectively countering vascular endothelial growth factor (that helps tumors grow).Study is still on set for further results.
