A Pilot Study on the Detection of Multidrug Resistant

Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from a curable infectious disease. Globally more than 1.3 million people die of the disease every year. Nearly one third of the world’s population is infected with tubercle bacilli; approximately 10% of them have a life time risk of developing the disease. The incidence rate is highest among young adults, and most cases are due to recent infection or reinfection.
