Formation in Food Industry

Within biofilms microorganisms are generally well-protected against the influence of disinfectants, antibiotics  and the host immune system , and as a consequence biofilms are extremely difficult to eradicate. As such, they cause major problems in medicine, agriculture, (food) industry and the household environment. Biofilms are problematic in particular food industry sectors such as brewing, dairy processing, fresh produce, poultry processing and red meat processing .
