A Case of Social Entrepreneurship

Seva Sahayog demonstrates the case of a social enterprise working in Maharashtra to support education of underprivileged children and livelihood of economically weaker sections of the society. The organization has expanded rapidly since its inception in the year 2008. Using innovative methods of involving citizens to volunteer for a social cause, Seva Sahayog has achieved its planned goals year after year. Primary objective of this case is to illustrate role of entrepreneurial mindset in running a successful not-for-profit venture. The case is based on series of interviews with the promoter of Seva Sahayog based in Pune. Several social enterprises and start-ups fail to meet their objectives because they lack systematic approach to deliver expected outcomes. The findings of this case based research indicate that use of entrepreneurial traits can enhance productivity and effectiveness of entities driven by social cause.
