Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a relatively rare malignancy of cells of the hematopoietic system. The malignancy is characterized by an increase in myeloid cells, erythropoietin cells and platelets in peripheral blood. The diagnosis is done by analysis of the bone marrow which usually reveals marked myeloid hyperplasia.
