Patients with Obstructive Diseases

The most common method to detect the presence and severity of airflow limitation associated with obstructive lung disease is spirometry, considered as the gold standard pulmonary function testing. However, spirometry has some limitations: it is effort dependent and requires patient cooperation, it involves taking deep breaths, which can alter underlying airway resistance.
