Refractive surgery is an eye surgery that is used to improve refractive state of an eye or to correct the vision of the eye. This surgery involves various methods of surgical remodeling of the cornea or cataract surgery. Today the most common method is excimer lasers which reshape the curvature of the cornea. Successful refractive eye surgery can cure or reduce common vision disorders like myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, and many degenerative disorders like keratoconus. Refractive surgery correct the vision either by reshaping the cornea, or clear front part of the eye, such that the light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye.
