Drug research is the process of discovering and bringing a new drug into the market. The process of drug development is not a fast track process that can be completed within a small duration of time; eventually it takes a longer period of time and intense research behind it. During the process of drug development it includes the identification of lead compound through pre-clinical research on microorganisms and or animals followed by clinical trials on humans. The ultimate step of drug development may also include obtaining the regulatory approval to introduce it into the market from the holding drug administration authority. Broadly the process of drug development is clearly divided into pre-clinical and clinical work. During the process of pre-clinical work new chemical entities are developed and or discovered which are further modified in order to execute the final step of process i.e., human clinical trials. Before executing the clinical trials the new chemical entities are tested for safety, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, etc. The open access journals are peer reviewed scholarly journals of Clinical & Experimental Pharmacology.
