Chronic granulomatous Disease is a rare immunodeficiency caused by a defect in the leukocyte NADPH oxidase. enzyme generates superoxide, which is needed for the killing of bacteria and fungi by phagocytic leukocytes. Most CGD patients have mutations in CYBB, the X-linked gene that encodes gp91phox, the catalytic subunit of the leukocyte NADPH oxidase. The exceptional feature of the A67 CGD patients reported here is that the p.Ala202Val mutation in the activation domain of p67phox was clearly hypomorphic: substantial expression of p67phox protein was noted and the NADPH oxidase activity in the neutrophils of the patients was 20-70% of normal, dependent on the stimulus used to activate the cells. Leukocyte NADPH oxidase activity, expression of oxidase components and gene sequences were measured with standard methods. the premalignant lesion-derived mediators that promote the inflammatory and Th17 phenotype could resolve if the contribution of this phenotype is to accelerate or to prevent progression of premalignant lesions to oral cancer.
Scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting novel research. There are thousands of scientific journals in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Scientific journals contain articles that are peer reviewed, to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. The publication of the results of research is an essential part of the scientific method. If they are describing experiments or calculations, they must supply enough details that an independent researcher could repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the results. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
