About the Journal

Progression in medical sciences with relation to critical surgeries helped in increasing trust of patients in the modern surgical procedures. This improvement occurred following intensive research efforts and practical application of the techniques. Surgeries associated with medical implanting involves ample amount of technological contributions from different disciplines including clinical sciences, surgical aspects, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, computer engineering, material science, anatomy, physiology and histology, toxicology, other engineering subjects depending on the type and area of the implants.

In clinical and medical sciences implants are of different types depending on the area of the human body it is used, such as, dental implant, cardiac implant, knee implant, brain implant, spine implant, plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery based implants, information on medication used for implants, patient care, pre and post-operative measures, long term and short term effects of implantsetc.

Aims & Scope

A common podium for discussion on the state-of-the-art progress pertaining to medical implants and relevant surgical procedure is essential to disseminate the updated and rationalized information to the researchers, academicians and medical student community those are associated with surgeries, implants and related medication and patient care.

Authors are welcome to submit their contribution in the form of a research, review, short communication, case studies and case reports etc. Articles will be considered for publication from the disciplines which are associated with implantation and surgeries. This include surgical protocols, novel surgical techniques, research related to development of implants with new materials, biomedical and bioengineering contributions in implant related aspects, contribution of other engineering subjects including tissue engineering, biotechnological procedure, computer science, material engineering etc.

Submission of articles are not limited only to the thrust areas, contributions are welcome from other associated disciplines also.

The journal is using Editor Manager System for smooth submission and processing of articles and to track every step of the process online. This peer reviewed online open access journal accepts articles only after the consent of at least two independent reviewers followed by the decision of the Editor.

Brain Implants

Brain Implant is any substance or structure that is placed surgically intracranially. Neural implants, also called brain implants, are medical devices designed to be placed under the skull, on the surface of the brain. Often as small as an aspirin, implants use thin metal electrodes to “listen” to brain activity and in some cases to stimulate activity in the brain.

Ear Implants

A cochlear implant is a small, complex electronic device that can help to provide a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing.

An implant is a medical device which is made to replace a missing biological structure, to support a damaged biological structure, or enhance an existing biological structure.

Medical Implants

Medical implants are devices or tissues that are placed inside or on the surface of the body. Many implants are prosthetics, which are to replace missing body parts.

The study of Anatomy

Anatomy is science which deals with the study of the structure of organisms and their parts with further division into zootomy (animals) and phytotomy (plants).

Cardiac implants

An Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator is a battery-powered device placed under the skin that keeps track of your heart rate. ICDs are useful in preventing sudden death in patients with known, sustained ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation.

Cosmetic Therapies

Cosmetic therapy is a type of beauty treatments that uses low electric currents passed through the skin to produce several therapeutic effects such as muscle toning in the body and micro-lifting of the face.

Knee Implants

an orthopaedic surgeon will replace the damaged knee with an artificial device (implant). Although replacing the total knee joint is the most common procedure, some can benefit from just a partial knee replacement.

Invasive and non-invasive procedure

A non-invasive procedure is a conservative treatment that does not require incision into the body or the removal of tissue. For the treatment of back pain, a combination of non-invasive procedures such as chiropractic manipulation, physical therapy, and heat therapy are typically prescribed for several weeks.

Latest NEWS: NHS to test experimental bionic eye implants on blind patients to restore eyesight. Five patients with a condition known as retinitis pigmentosa will be treated at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and five at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London next year. They will be given a pair of glasses mounted with a camera that captures light and sends wireless signals to an implant in the retina. The implant will then relay information to the brain to help patients regain some sight.

Latest NEWS: Dissolvable brain implants the size of a grain of rice invented by scientist. Biodegradable device which measures temperature and blood pressure could be used to monitor a patient's recovery by implanting it into the brain or other vital organs.
