Structure Prediction By Homology Modelling

Structure prediction by homology modelling (HM) can aid understanding the three dimensional (3D) structure of a given protein. This in turn will help elucidate the mechanisms behind protein function, since function is determined by 3D structure. Based on the structure the function of the protein will be predicted. (Structure based in silico modelling). Homology Modelling has proved very useful in the prediction of the 3D structure and function of proteins. Comparative structure prediction produces an all-atom model of a sequence based on its alignment to one or more related protein structures. Comparative model building includes either sequential or simultaneous modeling of the core of the protein, loops, and side chains. The methodology of homology modeling relies on the observation that the structural conformation of a protein is more highly conserved than its amino acid sequence.
