If acute inflammation condition is not resolved it leads to the condition of chronic inflammation. Some of the features of acute inflammation also lead to chronic inflammation such as increase in blood flow and increase in capillary permeability. Accumulations of the white blood cells are also observed. In an infected tissue neutrophils are the ones which are recruited first by the body but soon they are replaced by the macrophages and the lymphocytes. Thus these are the primary cells in case of chronic inflammation. The functions of macrophages are to phagocytize the pathogens at the site of inflammation.
Scholarly peer review is the process of subjecting an author's scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field, before a paper describing this work is published in a journal. The work may be accepted, considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected. Peer review requires a community of experts in a given (narrowly defined) field, who are qualified and able to perform reasonably impartial review.
