White Rot

Among the diseases of onion, white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum Berk.) is identified as the most important disease of onion in Ambo and Toke Kutaye districts of West Showa, Ethiopia, causes breaking of floral stalks, and thus, the bulb yield and seed production is significantly reduced. In Ethiopia, the management methods of the diseases of onion are followed as mainly crop rotation, avoidance and sanitation to proper storage methods . Conventional methods of control of diseases of onion include the use of chemicals, organic means, and through integrated management efforts.
