One of the constituents from M. azedarach is azadirachtin, a highly potent limonoid insect antifeedant and ecdysis inhibitor.
Three limonoids were isolated from T. cornucopia and classified as azadiron derivative type. The methanol and chloroform extracts exhibited potent larvicidal and adulticidal activities against A. gambiae. Delayed mortality was observed at low doses for all the methanol and chloroform extracts. These plants offer a significant potential for mosquito control as larvicides and adulticides. Due to the stability of the constituent limonoids against UV and oxygen, the extracts could be potential bed net impregnants.
