Logistic regression can in many ways be seen to be similar to ordinary regression. Logistic regression is a technique for making predictions when the dependent variable is a dichotomy, and the independent variables are continuous and/or discrete. A type of generalized linear model that uses statistical analysis to predict an event based on known factors.
