Bacterial growth refers to division of bacterium into two cells. That process of division is known as binary fission. This division is basically asexual. There are four phases in bacterial growth and they are lag phase, log phase, stationary phase and death phase. In some cases it can further be subdivided into lag phase, early log phase, exponential phase, early stationary phase, stationary phase, early death phase and death phase.
