Bioactive Compounds

Bioactive compounds are the natural molecules synthesised by plants, animals, marine organisms etc. These compounds can be used by human beings for variety of applications. Bioactive plant food compounds which are derived from plant sources are called as plant bioactives. The best example is mushrooms which is highly nutritious for health. Bioactive compounds play a vital role in living beings; they can be used as anticancer drugs. The protein fragments synthesised by plant or animal is called bioactive peptide, these fragments help in functioning and synthesis of living tissue etc. Most of the fermented products are also referred as bioactive compounds or peptides which are being used as dairy products. Some of the factors which affect the biological activity of bioactive compounds include chemical properties, physicochemical properties, resonance and inductive effects, transfer of electrons, types of bonding in each molecule apart from its arrangement. One of the striking features of bioactive compounds is that they are tap safe. It means that they can be put in the tank for cleaning purpose just as we put goldfish in the tank.
