Stereotactic radiation therapy is a specialized therapeutic method used to target the tumor cells. This is an extra beam radiation therapy which helps to deliver the radiation doses with extreme accuracy. This method can specifically detect and kill small tumor cells. The treatment has several advantages such as usage of narrow beams, well defined targeting and precision etc. This is used in treatment of gliomas brain metastases, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, arteriovenous malformations.
