Thyroid nodules are lumps which commonly arise within an otherwise normal thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located at the base of the neck and is solid or filled with fluid. It is single nodule or a cluster of nodules. Thyroid nodules are common structures and rarely cancerous. Thyroid nodules are most common in women than in men. With the age advances the chance of getting thyroid also increases. Very often, nodules produce no symptoms. It could be identified by routine physical exam or imaging tests that are done for another reason.
