Mobile ad hoc networks involve several mobile nodes which are self configuring. Due to rapid movement of the nodes link breakages occur, which lead to the rebroadcast of a request. To optimize the broadcasting, the number of rebroadcasts should be limited. To reduce the routing overhead we describe a method in which neighbour knowledge and rebroadcast probability are used for rebroadcasting a request. In this paper we propose a scheme to enhance the existing neighborhood coverage based probabilistic rebroadcast using the technique of particle swarm optimization.
