Drug discovery effort is identification of epigenetic targets that modulate the posttranslational modification state of histones. Quantitative proteomics have been successfully used to study the effect of small drug molecules by monitoring protein acetylation and methylation. Application of proteomic approaches are not restricted to the identification of the mode of action but could also be applied to the identification of cellular mechanism of drug resistance.
