"Effect of various carbon sources on the growth and production of chitinase by the YT 5 and YT 0 were studied in 25 ml minimal medium containing the supplements as stated above and 2% glucose or 2% sucrose or 0.2% colloidal chitin for 7 days by continuous shaking of 180 rpm at 30Â°C. From each culture, the samples were collected at 24 h intervals and the growth was measured at 600 nm. Then the cultures were centrifuged at 6000 rpm for 10 min at 4Â°C and the clear supernatants were used as the enzyme source to quantify the chitinase activity.
