Golden Rice Open Access Journals

Golden rice is rich in vitamin A. Rice kernals are deficient of vitamin A ,so people who obtain most of their calories from rice are deficient of vitamin A as rice does not contain it. German and Swiss researchers have engineered rice to produce beta carotene which is a precursor to vitamin a in the rice kernel, The beta carotene turns processed white rice to gold colour hence the name is given as golden rice. Hence people who consume golden rice can obtain vitamin A which contains beta carotene
