Oryza glaberrima is commonly called as African rice which is a domesticated rice species.It is believed to be domesticated 2000 to 3000 years ago in the inland delta of the niger river.The ancestor of oryza glaberrima is oryza barthii. This is mainly grown in west Africa. It shows more tolerant features when compared to other rice species.
