Sedimentation is a process that causes the minerals to settle and accumulate from the solution. Particles that forms sedimentary rock by accumulation is called sediment. Sediment was formed by weathering and erosion which is then transported to the place of deposition by ice, mass, wind, water, or glaciers. Sedimentary rocks contains information regarding the history of the Earth. It may be fossils, the remains of ancient plants and animals.
