Spinal Cord

It is a column of nervous tissue that is connected to the brain and lies in the vertebral column. From this spinal nerves emerges. It consists of nerve fibers that transmit impulse to and from brain. It helps in transfer of sensory and motor nerve impulses. It is cushioned by cerebrospinal fluid which acts as shock absorber. Spinal cord and brain constitutes the nervous system.
