Absence of menstruation i.e, one or more missed menstrual periods is amenorrhea. Women who misses at least three menstrual periods in a row tend to have amenorrhea. The girls who doesn't begin menstruation by age 15 also have amenorrhea. The major cause of amenorrhea is pregnancy. The other causes may be either reproductive organs problems or problems with the glands that help in regulating the levels of hormones. The symptoms for amenorrhea includes Headache, milky nipple discharge, hair loss, excess facial hair, acne, pelvic pain etc. The treatment methods depends on the underlying cause of amenorrhea. In few cases contraceptive pills or hormone therapy may restart the menstrual cycles. If amenorrhea is caused due to thyroid or pitutary disorders then this can be treated by medications. Surgery may be the treatment option if tumor is causing the problem. Journal articles are most often Primary Research Articles. However, they can also be Review Articles. These types of articles have different aims and requirements. Sometimes, an article describes a new tool or method. Because articles in scientific journals are specific, meticulously cited and peer-reviewed, journal databases are the best place to look for information on previous research on your species. Without a background in the field, journal articles may be hard to understand - however, you do not need to understand an entire article to be able to get valuable information from it.
