Radiation cystitis may occur following completion of pelvic radiotherapy. The occurrence, however, can range from two months to twenty years. The range of incidence may range from 5% to 12 %. Over 9% of cases occur with haemorrhage. Radiation cystitis can and has been treated in various ways. Bladder irrigation can be considered as a primary treatment course whereas intra-vesical instillations can be secondary. Administration of several oral and intravenous agents can also be used as a treatment option but may exhibit side effects.
