Corticosteroids are involved in a wide range of physiological processes, including stress response, immune response, and regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate metabolism, protein catabolism, blood electrolyte levels, and behavior. Corticosteroids are powerful anti-inflammatory drugs used to suppress the effects of the immune response of any origin: autoimmune diseases, allergy or transplant rejection.
