Role of miR-1 in the Heart

The heart which acquires its delicate structure from embryonic development pumps uninterruptedly throughout the life of all animals. Morphogenesis as well as maintenance of cardiac function requires precise regulation of various gene expressions. During cardiogenesis, signaling pathways and transcription factors exert spatiotemporal control of downstream gene transcription to guarantees cardiac morphogenesis progresses properly
