Clinical malaria was defined as malaria parasitaemia of any density, and signs and/or symptoms of fever or history of fever in the last 24 hours, headache, arthromyalgias, and/or pallor, but without severe anaemia or history of convulsions. Integration into the antenatal programs, of effective antimalarial interventions like IPTp, use of long lasting Insecticide Treated bed Nets (ITNs), advise to rid their environment of breeding places for mosquitoes, indoor spraying of insecticides and where possible fumigation of their surroundings, together with the use of artemisininbased combination therapy for the treatment of cases with clinical malaria, presents a new opportunity for large scale malaria control, and progress towards targets set by Roll Back Malaria Partnership, within the framework of the Millennium Development Goals.
