Argentine Society of Transplantation

The Argentine Society of Transplantation or the Sociedad Argentina Transplant (SAT) is a civil association that brings together biologists, physicians, biochemists, psychologists with scientific and academic interests in organ transplants. It currently consists of members trained in various specialties, as in heart, liver, lung, kidney transplants, bone, bone marrow, pancreas, corneas, skin and tissues. SAT, established in 1982 as Argentina Transplant Association, was re-founded in 1994 in order to enable broad participation of all Argentine professionals. The Argentinean Transplant Association created in November of 1982 as mentioned above allowed the activity of Argentinean doctors working in this discipline to have Congresses of their own, joined at first with the Latin American Society and later independently, been able, during the year to achieve the goals of the Society like sharing, issuing and achieving objectives in different spheres that favour the development of this discipline. The connections with the AMA prevented connections for doctors from other Regions not associated to the AMA that shared the same interests and desires to participate. The creation in 1993 of the Argentinean Transplant Society, Civil Association with legal status according to its Articles of Association and Constituent Acts gave the Society Functional and Economical Independence that allows the participation of the specialists of the country. The objectives of the Company are set out in the Constitutive Act and the main rules of operation which are described in its Statute. The Sociedad Argentina Transplant has in its functional structure Board of Directors, consisting of a Vice President, President, Pro-Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer, Pro-treasurer and 6 Vowels. The Society is headed by Dr. Paul U. Massari. These committees are constituted as Chapters and each has a Director, Co-Director and a group of professionals in the field, who are working on specific topics. The Sociedad Argentina Transplant has a Constitutive Act and rules of operation are described in the Statute. The direction of the SAT is run by a Board of Directors elected by its members and consisting of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Pro-Secretary, Treasurer, Pro-treasurer and 6 Vowels. The structure also has advisers various areas of interest in the activity of organ transplants Committees. Currently they are heading the SAT committees of kidney, liver, heart, bone, lung, pancreas, Infectious Diseases and Immunology.
