The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) traces its origins to an informal meeting of Asian airline executives in 1965, which proposed the creation of a forum for regional cooperation. In 1996 the Association changed its name to "Association of Asia Pacific Airlines" to superior indicate the geographical distribution of its members. Today, AAPA member airlines service standards have become a reference for the industry worldwide, such as Asia-Pacific aviation plays a more important role in the global aviation industry. The AAPA is the trade association of a group of international airlines based in Asia -Pacific, addressing a wide range of issues affecting air. AAPA Travel provides a common forum for the articulation of views on issues and matters of common interest in the Asia Pacific aviation industry, and speaks with one voice at the Asia-Pacific carriers name and puts prospects before Asia when dealing with governments, aircraft manufacturers, airport authorities and many other organizations on issues of industry. AAPA also publishes information on the industry's traffic statistics and operational performance measures. The permanent secretariat is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with worldwide representation in Brussels and Washington, D.C. Collectively, the AAPA represents about a fifth of global passenger traffic and a third of world air cargo traffic, respectively. It is a non-profit organization and membership is open to international airlines based on the time zone between GMT+7 and GMT+12.
