Botanical Society of Scotland

The Botanical Society of Scotland is a non-profit organization. it was founded in1836. Botanical Society of Scotland aims to advance the appreciation of all plants and fungi; we welcome all enthusiasts as the Botanical Society of Edinburgh, This Society grown to become the popular Botanical Society of Scotland in 1991. In 2011 Botanical Society of Scotland celebrated its 175th anniversary of the founding of the Society and also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the change of name to reflect the expansion of the Society interests.

The Botanical Society of Scotland promotes the study of non flowering plants, fungi and lichens as well as flowering plants. In associations broad scope it is unique among British botanical societies. The Botanical Society of Scotland has close historical links with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Scottish universities. It also have links to the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland, Scottish Natural Heritage and Plantlife Scotland, among others, as well as local groups.

Botanical Society of Scotland Activities include lectures, field projects, symposia, field excursions and an annual exhibition meeting for exchange of information between botanists working in globally.
