The Estonian Ornithological Society (EOS) is a voluntary association and was founded on 1 May 1921. The EOS became a full member and partner of Birdlife International in 2000 and consists of more than 400 members.
The Estonian Ornithological Society is a voluntary association founded with an aim of conservation, study and popularization of Estonia bird population and it also invites the people who support the society activities welcomed as a member of EOS. EOS provides the general knowledge of bird ecology by delivering the instructions for carrying out bird study for analysing the results. It also promotes the conservation of important bird habitats and the areas that are very important to birds, and their preservation of the biodiversity of species.
The EOS involved in several projects of Estonian bird ecology, conservation and developing Natura 2000 site networks. EOS consists of four permanent committees’ works within its framework and examiners the notifications of rare species in Estonia by giving Estonian-language names to birds and assembling various lists of birds, and also addresses specific questions concerned conservation and monitoring.
EOS publishes all kinds of information that related to birds habits, biodiversity of species and discussion on particular topics. It also organizes exciting educational events, where everyone interested in birds has a chance to participate.Read More»
