The European Society for radiography was established over 30 years ago and is open to anyone who is actively engaged in auto radiographic studies in which there is an element of imaging or the manufacture and supply of auto radiographic materials and related equipment. This leads to bringing to educate and promote the science of autoradiography through courses and meetings. These society studies enable the conduct of human radiolabeled metabolite studies and have provided pharmaceutical scientists with a high resolution of qualitative along with quantitative method of accessing tissue distribution. It also organizes a mass spectrometric imaging analysis technique capable of label-free and simultaneous determination of the identity and distribution of xenobiotics and their metabolites as well as endogenous substances in biological samples. The mission is to eliminating the need for radiochemical behaviour and providing molecular specific information. It also offers a complementary method to MALDI-MSI for the acquisition of images with higher spatial resolution techniques directly from biological specimens. Although traditionally used for the analysis of surface films and polymers, society for autoradiography has been used successfully for the study of biological tissues and cell types, thus enabling to perform the acquisition of images at sub micrometre resolution with a minimum of samples preparation in the current radiographic techniques. It also discusses the history, validation, current applications, and limitations of ARG, molecular imaging in pharmaceutical discovery and development.
